According to notable leaker Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 0 is the next entry getting the remake treatment. Dusk Golem made the claim over on X after a member of the community directly asked.
Dusk Golem was actually crushing rumours that Jill would play a role in the upcoming Resident Evil 9, as well as reports that it would take place in a hospital.
Another X user replied by asking what the next remake will be, and Dusk Golem clarified right away that “Zero is the next remake.”

Discussing the rumour on Reddit, one of the comments clarified that Dusk Golem leaked that two Resi remakes are currently under development last year.
These include Resident Evil 0, which is reported to be first, with a Code Veronica to follow later this decade. They also suggested that it could arrive on Switch 2, with marketing support from Nintendo.
What’s Resident Evil 0?
Resident Evil 0 launched on GameCube in 2022, and was a direct prequel to the original Resident Evil, which launched in 1996. It arrived on the GameCube the same year as the Resident Evil remake, and shares the exact same art style.
In a new move for the series at the time, you play as both Billy Coen and Rebecca Chambers, and can swap between them at any moment to solve puzzles.

Each character has a unique ability, with Rebecca able to mix herbs, while Billy can use a lighter and move heavy objects. You can either travel together, or split up to explore separately.
How Will it Change With the Remake?
It’s a safe guess that Capcom will opt for a third person over the shoulder camera view that we’ve seen in the 2, 3, and 4 remakes so far.
Other than that, there’s the chance for optional multiplayer, allowing two players to control the two characters at once, and the return of the storage boxes, which were controversially removed in the original.
You can also expect the visuals to receive an extensive overhaul, as well as tweaks to the story to bring it more in line with the new canon from the remake series.
