Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Game Director, Corinne Busche, has reportedly left BioWare, shortly following the game’s release. According to Eurogamer, this isn’t due to the game’s commercial performance.

Not that sales were poor by any margin, but Eurogamer seems to have insider knowledge that they didn’t meet expectations. It’s not like we haven’t heard that from a major publisher before.

Who is Corinne Busche?

Corinne Busche has held the position of Game Director on Dragon Age: The Veilguard since February 2022. Prior to that, Busche had many different roles within BioWare’s publisher, EA.

This has mostly been as a Designer or Design Director on various entries in The Sims series, including 3, 4, and Mobile.

What’s Next For BioWare?

It’s understood that BioWare is now working on the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise, and that Busche’s exit is not expected to have an impact on its development, which is in the very early stages.

Little is known about the next Mass Effect at this point though, and what we do know comes courtesy of several teasers, including a trailer, that BioWare has already dropped.

We know Liara will play a part, and that Reapers very much remain present in the universe following the events of Mass Effect 3.

Is the Next Mass Effect a Sequel to 3 or Andromeda?

Where it takes place in the timeline is very much up for debate. Andromeda took place 600 years after the events of 3, and Liara’s presence in the teaser tells us very little as her race is known for its long life.

Either way, it definitely takes place after 3 but it isn’t clear if it’s linked to Andromeda. Another teaser pointing to that is the Mud Skipper concept art, which shows members of the Salarian, Angara, and Drell races alongside Liara.

The Angara has only appeared in Andromeda so far, which is a good indication. Time will tell.
